Health Canada: Dollar Novelty Imports Inc. recalls Fish Shaped Bath Toys

posted Dec 7, 2017, 3:00 PM by Douglas Ratke   [ updated Dec 7, 2017, 4:22 PM ]

This recall involves a set of three bath toys shaped as fish; the fish are green, orange, and blue. The toys are made from soft, squeezable rubber.

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that these bath toys do not meet the Phthalates Regulations for the allowable limit of Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP).

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and either dispose of the product or contact Dollar Novelty Imports for a refund.

For more information, consumers may contact Dollar Novelty Imports at 403-802-1398 Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 16:30 p.m. or by e-mail at dollarnovelty@hotmail.com

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.
The recalled product was sold from November 2015 to November 2017.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
