In attendance at the Grand Ribbon Cutting Ceremony were:

1)  Calgary East MLA Robyn Luff, Representing the Provincial Government
2)  Councilor Gian-Carlo-Carra, representing the City of Calgary
3)  Calgary Millican-Ogden President Rick Smith
4)  Calgary Riverbend President Douglas Ratke
5)  Mac Logan, City of Calgary General Manager of Transportation
6)  Calgary Media
7)  Calgary Representatives of the Construction Crews
8)  Representatives of Alberta Motor Transport Association

The project was a massive undertaking, requiring almost 3 years and 1000 people to complete.  At the end of it, the City should be recognized for bringing the project in ahead of schedule and under budget.

The project has a number of benefits to residents of Riverbend as follows:

1)  It is part of the infrastructure for the new Greenline.
2)  It will allow travel over both the CN and CP Rail tracks, helping to avoid the pain that we have all felt waiting for a train to go by this area.
3)  It will help promote more traffic using 24th Street as a major roadway as opposed to 18th Street, which also helps lessen the traffic on 18th Street.
4)  It will promote better access to facilities located east of our Community.
5)  It will allow for better access for transportation west of our community.
6)  It forms an important part of the as yet to be developed community of South Hill.
