Help protect trees in Carburn Park

posted Sep 24, 2015, 1:03 PM by Amanda Thomas

Beavers have a long tradition in Carburn Park. They play an important role in the park`s ecosystem, and citizens enjoy watching them. While some visible signs of beaver is expected each year, we are experiencing higher than normal chewing due to an increased number of beavers throughout Calgary.

The City of Calgary has been placing protective wire around trees in Carburn Park throughout the summer of 2015 using staff and volunteers. We have made a lot of progress, but there is still work to do! Please join us and other members of your community to wire trees. October 3rd from 9:00 – 12:00. Meeting at the Park Depot in Carburn.  Closed toed shoes should be worn. Gloves and safety glasses will be provided.
