PARKS DAY & CREEKFEST !

ROUND OUT STAMPEDE WEEK WITH A FREE FESTIVAL IN FISH CREEK!

What: PARKS DAY & CREEKFEST! Juno-award winning Peter Puffin’s Whale Tales will return to Fish Creek for a free concert and song writing workshop! Enjoy the performance “Good Night and Good Duck” from Alberta Parks’  K-Country Interpretive Theatre! Coyote Kids Theatre will present “A Muskrat’s Tail” and local musician Alex Boisselle will return to Fish Creek! Participate in an outdoor Yoga session or fly fishing demonstration, and a guided walk with Wayne Meikle, retired park planner and founding member of the Friends of Fish Creek! 

Kids will also enjoy a free obstacle course hosted by Carnivals for Kids at Heart, interactive games and activities and a special visit from Boston Pizza’s Mascot Lionel. Meet with representatives from organizations focused on preserving our provincial parks and watersheds including the Alberta Wilderness Association, Bow Habitat Station, The City of Calgary, St. Mary’s University, McLeod Law LLP, Mountain Equipment Coop, the Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society, Trout Ultd Canada and many more!

When: Sunday, July 17, 2016 - 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Where: Glennfield, Fish Creek Provincial Park (14228 Bannister Rd. SE, Calgary AB)

Who:   This event is being hosted by the Friends of Fish Creek and Alberta Parks. The Friends of Fish Creek is a local not-for-profit environmental organization whose mission is to engage the community through education and awareness to conserve a truly unique naturalized urban park. Kananaskis Country, Environmental and Sustainable Resource Development is a branch of Alberta Parks dedicated to preserving this province’s majestic Kananaskis area. 

Why:    This free one-day celebration of our local watersheds and this provinces’ breathtaking naturalprotected areas is an important component of the Friends’ Watershed Public Awareness Campaign, designed to inform and inspire communitymembers to take actions to protect and reserve our water.

Visuals:  Musical performances, guided walks, yoga session, interactive games and activities, exhibits and information booths, children's activities, obstacle courses, and much more!
