Riverbend Playground Update - August 23, 2017

posted Aug 23, 2017, 11:37 AM by Douglas Ratke   [ updated Aug 24, 2017, 7:30 PM ]

The following is an update on the two playground projects taking place in 2017.

As of now, all playgrounds in Riverbend are rated as fair to poor as far as their condition.  As such, Riverbend has been working with partners, including the City of Calgary to evaluate each playground, and determine if it should be kept; upgraded, or removed.

The work is a continuation of other similar projects undertaken in Riverbend starting in 2010.  At that time, one playground on the East side of 18th Street was upgraded, and one on the West side of 18th Street was upgraded.

Then, in 2016-2017, the playground at Riverwood Circle was upgraded.

As far as the work in 2017, this is a summary:

Riverside Mews - this playground is being removed.  Instead, it will be re-lanscaped to provide a much more enjoyable sitting and relaxing area.

Riverside Close - this playground is being upgraded.  As a result, the old equipment will be removed, and brand new equipment installed.

Both projects are expected to be completed at the end of August 2017.
