Riverbend's Rink is now open!

posted Dec 20, 2016, 4:36 PM by Frieda Wiebe

Grab your skates and stick; the Riverbend Community Outdoor Rink is now open! After about 8 floods and in spite of the deep freeze, six volunteers from the community have prepared the rink for use again this winter.

Some safety reminders:
- no sticks or pucks on the pleasure rink. That area is reserved for pleasure skaters and young kids.
- the ice is still rough in areas so be mindful of that, as well as the gap between the ice and the boards. It would take another thirty floods or flooding on top of a good snowfall to close that gap. We'll be filling it in with snow as we are able.

Feel free to organize pickup games and post times on our Facebook page.
Lights will be on from dusk to roughly 11 PM.
Rink maintenance will typically occur after 9 PM on days when the weather is appropriate and volunteers are available.

Please dig your pucks out of any snow piles as it wrecks our equipment. Leave with as many pucks as you came with. We already have a bucket full of pucks from previous years.

Thanks, and have a great time and safe winter!
