What is ActivateYYC?

ActivateYYC is a new, one-time microgrant program that centers on local community projects that bring people together to walk, play and be neighbourly. These projects employ tactical urbanism – quick, temporary, and low-cost initiatives.

ActivateYYC wil provide grants – averaging $750 – to organized groups and businesses to experiment with temporary local projects and events that motivate Calgarians to walk, play and be neighbourly. Projects are encouraged to take place in any season of the year.

To support, organize and administer these grants, the Federation of Calgary Communities has partnered with the City of Calgary and Walk21 to introduce the ActivateYYC program to local communities!

Why Apply?

You have a great idea to make your community more walkable.

You are a trailblazer!  You want to help The City and future community builders learn about the barriers and processes to good community building work (yes, you will have to work through City process for permits or approvals – but the end result is this will help the city to evaluate its own process and try to improve it for future applicants!)

You want to contribute to Calgary and help to showcase our city at the Walk21 Conference in September 2017.
