What Can You Do To Help Riverbend !

posted Feb 21, 2017, 1:17 PM by Douglas Ratke

The following is an e-mail that was received from a concerned resident.  The name is on file, but, has been removed for reasons if privacy.  Having said that, we all have a role to play in keeping Riverbend a great community!

The Concern (Per the Letter)

I find it rather disappointing to have to request the associations assistance in notifying our community members of our failing standards. Over the last several years I've noticed an increase in the number of homes that are in need of a major clean up. To drive down one of our back lanes it is very apparent of the lack of basic yard maintenance.

There are inoperable automobiles, fences falling down or in dire need of painting, overgrown weeds and trees as well as general junk laying around. These homes are becoming unsightly, bring our home values down and are a deterrent for new home buyers. A rundown neighbourhood is a crime magnet. I take great pride in my home and have invested a substantial amount of money maintaining my property and I don't want to live in a ghetto.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could advertise my concerns in the community newsletter and other public buildings.

Maybe the association could have a contest for the most improved yard for 2017? Perhaps taking photographs of unsightly yards and posting them publicly might shame them into making change. Yes I am frustrated but this is my home.

Sincerely,

A long time Riverbend Resident
