2017 Riverbend Community

Clean Up Day

June 24, 2017

Spring is finally here and do you have some things that you have been planning to dispose of but just have not had time to take care of? Do you have any gently used clothing or bicycles that you would be willing to donate to a good cause?

Your Riverbend Community Association is once again working with The City of Calgary and other partners to organize a community clean-up event on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It will be held in the parking lot at the Riverbend Community Centre at 19 Rivervalley Dr SE.

The City of Calgary will be supplying three packer trucks (two for waste and one for organic materials).  Yard waste such as leaves, branches, plants, grass clippings and other yard waste (excluding sod) will be accepted at Community Cleanup events for composting; however, yard waste must be separate from other items.  All of the organic materials we collect at community cleanups will be taken to one of The City’s composting facilities.

While The City of Calgary packer trucks will not accept a number of items (i.e. tires, home appliances, household chemicals, propane tanks, microwaves, car batteries, home electronics, liquids, metals, glass and paint) there will be a number of recyclers on site to assist.

Technotrash has once again offered to provide recycling services for electronic items.

The Diabetes Canada will also have a bin available for gently used clothing.

Action Tyre will be accepting TIRES, RIMS and CAR BATTERIES.

Recon Metal will be on hand to accept METAL and APPLIANCES to be recycled.  A list of what can be accepted by Recon Metal is available at this link.

The Kiwanis Club (Chinook Chapter) will be collecting gently used BICYCLES AND SPORTING GOODS to distribute to less fortunate youngsters and their families.

When you come by, please also bring a donation for the Calgary Food Bank as we will be taking this opportunity to collect food items for this worthy cause.

PLEASE keep in mind that the community clean up is a one day event (Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM). There will not be pick-up from The City of Calgary at the Riverbend Community Centre after this date. This parking lot returns to a no dumping zone so that we can keep our community and community centre area clean.
