Riverbend Community Association has several active committees:

This is a newly formed committee that coordinates communication activities for the Riverbend Community Association including Riverbend Review newsletter, website development and maintenance, Facebook page maintenance and other activities.


Development Review & Planning - Chair: Douglas Ratke Contact: president@riverbendcommunity.ca

This committee monitors City of Calgary projects that may impact Riverbend Community and keeps Riverbend residents updated about them.


Events - Chair: Frieda Wiebe Contact: events@riverbendcommunity.ca

This is a newly formed committee that plans and organizes community events for the residents of Riverbend community. The group meets on the first Thursday of each month. New members are always welcome!


Nominations & Elections - Douglas Ratke Contact: president@riverbendcommunity.ca

This committee oversees nominations and elections for the Riverbend Community Association board of directors. Membership is restricted to the members of the board.

Airport Authority Consultative Committee (AACC) - Riverbend representative: David Crutcher

ACCC is a committee comprised of a variety of stakeholders, including: local communities, City of Calgary and Airdre, Nav Canada, Transport Canada and the airlines. This committee is dedicated to addressing operational issues through a consultative and collaborative process and meets periodically throughout the year.


Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA/Ready Calgary) - Riverbend representative: Jim Duggan

CEMA plans and coordinates emergency services and resources during major emergencies and disasters. CEMA works with other City departments, corporations, communities and non-profit agencies to increase Calgary’s capacity to be prepared for and recover more quickly from a disaster.


Southeast Calgary Recreation Society (SECRS) - Riverbend representative: Douglas Ratke

SECRS was formed to play the role of the Community Advisory Group that worked in collaboration with The City of Calgary in developing the new recreation centres in Quarry Park, Seton and Great Plains.


Trico Wellness Centre - Riverbend representative: Melissa Brooks

Trico Centre for Family Wellness is a community-owned, non-profit facility that promotes active kids, healthy families and vibrant seniors in partnership with the South Calgary communities we serve . Community Associations are partnered with Trico Centre. A member of each community association serves on the Board of Directors of Trico Centre. Buying a Trico Centre Continuous Monthly Pass and a small portion goes back into each community association!
