Our small but mighty team of volunteers has been working hard for the last several months. Even though there’s been no visible changes at the site a lot has happened in the background!
We partnered with Three Peaks Consulting who are coordinating engineering design for the project. A geotechnical study of the site has been completed and provided important considerations for the engineering team working on the design drawings for the concrete slab that will replace the current warped asphalt surface. We solicited quotations from many vendors which were needed to submit four grant applications to secure funding for the project.
We are hoping to hear back about grant applications by the end of June and are optimistic that construction will be starting later in the summer. Stay tuned for regular project updates.
After completing many renovations inside the community centre we are ready to start working on the outside! We have a small but mighty team of volunteers ready to lead the renovation project of the community hockey rink. We would like to ensure that the space is designed for multipurpose uses so community members can enjoy it throughout all the seasons. As we are working on the hockey rink makeover project, volunteers will not be flooding the rink during winter 2020-21.
City of Calgary Parks will be maintaining the skating rink at the Carburn Park.
Outdoor Skating Rinks
The outdoor skating rinks are usually available between December and February.
There are two skating rinks available: Hockey rink (fenced) and pleasure rink.
No hockey sticks or nets are allowed on the pleasure rink.
Both rinks are maintained exclusively by a group of volunteers.
Please check our Facebook page for updates about rink accessibility.
Skating rinks are CLOSED for the season
