Current Volunteer Opportunities

Communications Assistant(s)

Rink Volunteers: Join a group of keen volunteers and help with the maintenance of RCA skating rinks (snow removal, flooding etc.) Time commitment varies as per the weather conditions. Usually between November and February only.

Board Positions:

Director(s) at Large- may take on initiative of interest; supports RCA events as required; attends monthly board meetings. Time commitment varies, minimum 4 hours per month

Purpose of Position

Communication Assistant(s) support external communication activities of Riverbend Community Association under the guidance of VP Communications.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement regular content on RCA Facebook page (and possibly other social media platforms)
  • Prepare live posts during community events
  • Assist in maintaining RCA website content
  • Assist in developing and editing content for printed monthly newsletter Riverbend Review
  • Assist in developing and editing content for electronic email newsletter Riverbend Updates (using mailchimp platform)
  • Update databases and lists as required
  • Participate in communications team meetings as required
  • Participate in community events as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication abilities (oral and written)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Solid editing and researching skills
  • Understanding of communications principles and digital media strategies an asset

Notes:

  • We are looking for more than one volunteer to fill the Communications Assistant role
  • The exact responsibilities will be determined based on skills, interests and time commitment availability
  • Time commitment is 2-3 hours/ week
